Assistant Maintenance Manager

My client, an established wheat manufacturer based in the Northern Suburbs is seeking to employ an Assistant Maintenance Manager.The successful candidate will be a Qualified Electrician or Millwright and have 3 - 5 years' experience as artisan in manufacturing environment. The following requirements apply:

• Qualified Electrician or Millwright
• 5 Years experience as artisan in manufacturing environment
• Valid South African drivers’ license (Code 8)
• Own reliable transport to and from work
• Strong knowledge and insight in mechanical and electrical systems, pneumatics and PLCs.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
• Good understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
• Computer literate

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the maintenance department and manage a team of maintenance artisans and assistants.
• Ensuring preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment are done to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
• Ensuring maintenance schedules are completed and signed off by required departments.
• Conducting regular inspections and troubleshoot machinery issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Coordinating with production to prioritize maintenance activities without disrupting production schedules.
• Maintaining inventory of spare parts and equipment, ensuring availability for maintenance and repair purposes.
• Maintaining maintenance stores and workshop.
• Doing regular tool checks and tool inspections.
• Adhering to safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
• Providing technical guidance and training to maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Available for weekend and standby duties every third week.
• Standing in for maintenance manager in his absence.

Hours: 6:00 to 16:00
