Opportunity Available!! Our leading client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Principal Engineer (Conversions) to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg. Job Description: Product design (include FEA, CAE, FMEA, technical drawing, etc.) Product Development schedule creation & Milestone management Ensure adherence to Conversions Partner rules and guidelines. Lead Design Reviews [DRBFM, Simultaneous Engineering] – Reoccurrence prevention Product Testing, Evaluation & Fitment (impact to vehicle, installation/user manual creation) Making clear evaluation plan for their development product Fire Hazard evaluation for wire harness design [Electrical Accessory Products] ECI (Engineering Change Instruction) Present to Management up to Exec level Job Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent Post grad qualification advantageous Minimum Five – Seven years’ experience with min. Three years’ experience in Product Development Proficient in CATIA Software (from V5 ~ above) Engineering Standards & Systems knowledge. Knowledge of interpretation of technical drawings. Understanding of Material types, strength, treatment methods, applications & performance Ability to read & understand basic electrical schematic drawings. Experience in component development, manufacturing, quality & evaluation processes Basic Regulatory knowledge [SANS, ICASA, CRAN, BOCRA] Design Review knowledge [Failure analysis, troubleshooting & counter measure] ECI knowledge [Planning, Implementation, Documentation management, Communication] Manufacturing In Process Quality control knowledge Problem identification & resolution Project Management for Part Development & reporting [Vehicle Development milestone] SECTOR: Automotive
