A Media company is looking to hire an Online & Social Media Manager (Web Producer) to join their team. They will be responsible to produce great content that is both highly shareable and cutting-edge, for online and mobile consumption. Applicants to include a profile and links to their work.
Minimum requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric Relevant Degree / Tertiary qualification in: Journalism or Communications (or equivalent) 1+ years experience within a similar/relevant professional working environment Valid driver’s licence
Skills / Experience / Knowledge requirements:
Strong language skills, and proven proofreading, sub-editing, headline writing skills A "nose for news" Competent in using electronic editing and digital publishing tools, as well as analytics tools Use SEO strategies and analytics tools to optimise content and identify new opportunities Good understanding of social media best practice Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines Sound editorial judgment Solid understanding of online video consumption and audience, as well as an understanding of local and international web video trends and best practices. Be self-motivated with an ability to work within a team; Must have strong video editing and shooting abilities
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility will be the optimisation of stories on the company website Aggregating and writing original content for the website which may also then be repurposed for the print product Updating social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) including live tweeting Keeping the website updated with new, accurate, relevant and engaging content Ensuring that traffic and audience targets are consistently met Assisting in finding new ways to grow site audience and engagement Producing multimedia including video and podcast that are in line with our editorial policy and digital first strategy which has a strong focus on multimedia storytelling.
