Description
The purpose of the job is to perform Business Analysis functions as well as consultancy services for current and new business requirements on products supported.
Tasks:
Consultancy Services:
- Attend Technical and application functional meetings
Document Solutions
Liaise with Development teams on proposed solutions
Assist Customer/business with UAT testing
Write and maintain testing scripts
Visit business sites and document observed incidents and issues
Business Analysis:
- Create functional solutions with the customer or business
- Advise and document improved Service Processes
- Engage with client and Incident Management Teams in the avoidance of interruptions (Proactive Problem Management), i.e. via a trend analysis
of important services or historical Incidents - Sponsorship, design, and continual improvement of the processes and its metrics
- Write technical specifications
- Handover Documentation to Service Lines
Application:
- Understanding the business requirements, and through a structured process documenting, validating and translating it into functional specifications that are used by developers to craft a technical solution.
- Testing and validating the functionality of the technical solution against the business requirements.
- Interfacing between the business client and the development team with regards to the business and functional requirements.
- Ensuring that the business requirements are delivered in the implemented solution.
- Identify and investigate recurring incidents at sites
- Investigate and make suggestions to permanently sort out Root Causes that causes Incidents
- Do Feasibility study on permanent solution to sort out root causes
- Follow through suggestions to sort out identified Root Causes
Knowledge & Experience required doing the job:
- Matric
- Relevant tertiary business qualification/s Experience
- 5+ years of writing of software functional specifications
- 5+ years of writing of software business requirement specifications
- 5+ years of Business Analysis in the field of application (Software) design and Business Intelligence
- 3+ years’ experience working/design/implementation of databases and SQL scripting
- Related Tertiary B Degree and/or Business analysis courses
- Product Analysis experience
- Data testing experience
- At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in:
- Retail and banking solutions
- Facilitating workshops with customers, including GAP analysis, documentation and spec writing.

The purpose of a business analyst role is to analysis user requirements and design and document solutions to be used as input into the development. Business analysts are responsible for the definition of business requirements and specifications used to build applications. They are also responsible to ensure that the developed software conforms to the documented requirements. The role requires collaboratively working with clients and other stakeholders to understand their needs and goals and translate these needs into requirements developers will use to develop applications.
Primary Responsibilities for the Role
Functional specifications

Design of solutions
Prepare specifications, wire frames, flow chart (business process model and notation) and test plans.Consider the impact of implementing a design on the system and on division resources.Make recommendations on solutions and designs to the benefit of the division.Ensure that the integration between the subsystem modified and other Integrator sub systems stays intact.The above responsibilities should be carried out in liaison with colleagues.Collaborate with the team to generate and contribute to designs and solutions.Prepare quotations (if the development is to be client funded), based on the effort estimation.
The quotation must include functional specifications and business requirements in a clear and unambiguous manner and be presented to the product owner.Once the product owner approves it will be sent to the client for signoff or acceptance.
Verification and Documentation of Developed Software
Unit verification of developed or modified software modules.Modify existing user documentation to reflect new or changed functionality.
Client communication
Ongoing communication with clients with reference to :-
The status of requested quotations, tasks or incidents.Quotations awaiting acceptance.Follow up on the sign-off of the requirements document.Follow up on the final sign-off documentation.
Skills development
