Our client in the engineering manufacturing industry is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Procurement & Stores Specialist to join their manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials and supplies, as well as overseeing the storage and distribution of inventory within their manufacturing facility. The successful incumbent will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships
- Coordinate with production and planning teams to forecast material requirements and maintain optimal inventory levels
- Oversee the receiving, inspection, and storage of incoming materials and supplies
- Implement inventory management best practices to optimize stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce carrying costs.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 / Equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management
- Proven experience in procurement and inventory management within the manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials requirements planning (MRP), and inventory control principles
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and other procurement and inventory management software
