External Sales Representative - Montague Gardens, Cape Town - Market Related Basic Salary plus Commission Structure
A company, who enjoys a significant presence in the local gearbox market serving diverse needs in mining, manufacturing, and agriculture is
seeking an External Sales Representative. Based in Cape Town, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and selling our comprehensive range
of gearbox solutions across various industries, across the Western and Northern Cape.
Critical Success Factors for the Position:
- Minimum matric exemption with proficiency in math, sciences, and Afrikaans; ND or Engineering Degree preferred
- Previous experience in technical sales, particularly in industrial and manufacturing sectors
- Proficiency in SAP, CRM, and MS Office
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and surpassing sales targets
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to convey technical information effectively
- Self-motivated and target-oriented
- Valid driver's license
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales Responsibilities:
- Identify and prioritize existing and potential customers based on business potential
- Develop effective call plans for customer management
- Explore and pursue new business opportunities, especially in OEM sector
- Ensure active servicing of existing customers and follow up on sales leads
- Monitor sales performance to meet budget targets
- Participate in marketing and sales events as required
Technical Responsibilities:
- Utilize power transmission formulae for equipment selection
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of products and application criteria
- Conduct site meetings to evaluate applications and resolve operational issues
- Perform calculations for equipment sizing and selection
- Familiarize with SAP system for stock status verification
Administration Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit call plans and reports
- Maintain accurate customer database and activity records
- Generate quotations ensuring technical and commercial terms clarity
- Coordinate equipment delivery status confirmation
- Process sales orders and ensure timely delivery
- Assist with internal sales functions and periodic stock counts
Key Performance Areas:
- Systematic approach to sales activities with emphasis on call planning
- Cultivate relationships with customers and prospects
- Continuous development of product and application knowledge
- Result-driven work ethic to achieve targets and budgets
