SASA - Debtors Supervisor ( Finance & Admin Division)



T he South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent vacancy for a Debtors Supervisor (Finance & Admin Division) in Mount Edgecombe.

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this position is responsible for performing accounting functions relating to accounts receivable, cashbook, general ledger, insurance, and fixed assets in accordance with internal controls and procedures and includes the supervision of the accounts receivable employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Management of accounts receivable employees including allocation of responsibilities, training, and development
  • Review, manage and reporting on debt follow up
  • Supervising the preparation and recording of accounts receivable, cashbook and fixed asset transactions
  • Assisting with daily processing and preparation of journals
  • Overseeing the daily and monthly cashbook reconciliations
  • Preparation and review of General Ledger reconciliations
  • Assisting in maintenance of budgets
  • Assisting with Insurance administration
  • Assisting with Internal and External Audits
  • Assisting with the compilation and submission of statutory returns
  • Assisting with ad-hoc task as required by Financial Accountant and or Finance Manager

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:


  • A Bachelor of Commerce Degree or a Post Graduate Accounting Diploma plus at least 4 years' experience in an accounting department of which 2 years should be at a Supervisory level
  • Sound knowledge of a computerized accounting package, preferably Syspro
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good interpersonal relations
  • Ability to work under pressure
