Field Service TechnicianBased in Midrand - Supporting SA and Africa TerritoryThe Field Service Technician is responsible for providing professional in-field support by performing health evaluations, installation & startup services, product training, warranty support, periodic maintenance, and repairs of industrial mixing equipment. . This is a customer facing position and requires strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills along with a commitment to service excellence Key Responsibilities:- Travel to customer sites to perform equipment health evaluations, installation & startup services, product training, warranty support, periodic maintenance, and in-field repairs of mixing equipment.
- Prepare written reports, including detailed summary of services performed, recommendation follow-up activities, and any opportunities identified (ie: equipment requiring maintenance or repair, lack of spares for critical equipment, etc.).
- Read assembly specifications and engineering specifications to troubleshoot, test, and repair equipment at customer sites.
- Offer the customer opportunities to improve equipment performance, including suggestions for replacement mixers, spare parts, and master service agreements.
- Ensure repaired products meet technical specifications and perform diagnostic tests to confirm proper functionality of repaired equipment.
- Supervise, advise, and train customer’s service personnel on correct installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mixing equipment.
- Respond to customer questions regarding operation and malfunction of mixing equipment, provide telephone support for start-up or troubleshooting when necessary.
- Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety policies and procedures.
- Mechanically experienced and knowledgeable, with Africa travel experience.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite & SAP preferred.
- Well experienced working directly with customers.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance and repair manuals and manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Relevant University qualification and minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Service Technician working on relevant Industrial Equipment.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Experience with repair and maintenance of industrial gearboxes or rotating equipment required.
- Overhead crane and rigging knowledge required.
- Safety certification(s) is an advantage.
