Role Overview
A well-established plastic recycling plant based in the Vaal Triangle are looking for a Health and Safety Professional with a waste management license to execute world class H&S policies that optimize waste management activities. The role is flexible and can accomodate a hybrid work arrangement.
The ideal candidate will ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.
Responsibilities
Develop, execute and monitor health and safety plans in the workplace according to the legal requirements.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety awareness and compliance.
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
Conduct training and presentations related to health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by performing on-going inspections of the day-to-day operations.
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
Identify and investigate risks and incidents.

Requirements and skills
Waste Management License is essential.
Proven experience as a Safety Officer
Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies and procedures
Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
A valid qualification in occupational health and safety
BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field will be an advantage.
