Description:

We currently have an opportunity for a business development manager to join F1000 South Africa commercial team. You will have overall responsibility for managing and maximising sales pipelines by representing F1000 to diverse customer segments including research funders, corporates, societies engaged in research, key research institutions and public and private funded universities.
This role will be a remote role based in Cape Town in South Africa, with frequent travel across the country and more widely across Africa on occasion.

What you will be doing:
Delivering regional sales targets by B2B selling F1000’s collaborative research solutions to Institutions, Funders and other key segments, and driving APC revenue (B2C) on to F1000research through a strong outreach to individual Researchers in region in collaboration with Marketing and Commissioning Teams.
Developing a robust sales strategy for the region in adherence to F1000’s global commercial strategy with a core focus on selling F1000 Platforms, Gateways, Open plus books and Pre-paid APC packages.
Business Prospecting to create a robust pipeline of potential customers from a diversity of segments through data analytics, using tools like Dimensions and other data applications.
Signing long-term MoU’s to offer collaborative F1000research publishing services to leading funders, societies, corporates and key academic institutions in the region.
Developing & managing relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to Head of Organizations, Research Heads, Directors, Vice Chancellors, Heads of depts/Academic Dean of key academic institutions having sizable Gold OA output in the region.
Reporting periodically to the Sales Director on sales progress and the business environment, thus ensuring responsiveness to both the micro and macro business environments.
