Description:

A client in the construction industry seeks to hire a qualified SITE AGENT to join their team based in Cape Town, on a fixed term contract basis.
JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Site Agent
Employment Type: 10 – 12 Month Contract, On-site
Work Location: Camps Bay, Cape Town


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Supervision and Coordination :
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of multiple subcontractors within a designated area of the construction site.
  • Manage on-site subcontractor walkabouts to ensure alignment with project standards and timelines.
  • Implement and manage the use of SnagR to oversee construction work effectively.

2. Project Setup and Data Management :
  • Set up datum lines and centre points for first fix installation to all areas.
  • Establish and manage a sequencing program to ensure all trades are aligned with the required program dates.

3. Communication and Documentation :
  • Maintain effective communication with the professional team to ensure timely receipt of necessary site information through the use of RFIs.
  • Ensure all communications with subcontractors are documented in writing, and meeting minutes are issued promptly.
  • Follow up to ensure all subcontractors' work is adequately resourced and completed as per agreed upon dates.

4. Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance :
  • Oversee the quality assurance process from the first fix to handover, ensuring all construction meets specified standards.
  • Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations, health, and safety standards.

5. Safety and Risk Management:
  • Monitor the project to ensure safety protocols are followed, identify, Sand rectify potential hazards, and promote a safe working environment.
  • Implement safety measures and ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations on-site.

6. Budget and Timeline Management:
  • Ensure that projects are executed efficiently, within the allocated budget, and according to the timeline.
  • Contractual management of subcontractors to ensure all program dates are met and documentation is in order.

7. Technical Skills and Problem Solving:
  • Utilise technical skills to interpret drawings and project specifications.
  • Proactively identify and solve construction-related problems that may arise during the project lifecycle.

8. Staff and Resource Management:
  • Manage the allocation and utilisation of resources such as materials, tools, and manpower to avoid shortages and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Train and mentor junior staff and labourers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities and ensure work is done to quality standards.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Building.
  • Proven experience as a Site Agent or similar leadership role in the construction industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and empower team members to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely and effective decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism, with a focus on delivering superior results and exceeding client expectations.

PACKAGE & REMUNERATION:
  • Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, applicable experience, and previous earnings.
