Diesel and Petrol Mechanic

Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years Mechanical experience in both petrol and diesel vehicles
  • A good understanding of Workshop consumables and vehicle parts
  • A thorough understanding of workshop environment
  • Driver’s license and own transport essential
  • Own tools is essential
  • Have Auto Electrical experience

  • Must be proactive and able to resolve problems quickly

  • Must be proactive when it comes to cost saving must be cost saving orientated and ensure that the company is always getting the best deal when purchasing parts

Key responsibilities:

  • Services and repairs on all company Vehicles
  • Standby duties/ after hours
  • To do services on all Company Vehicles out of guarantee
  • Top do all repairs/maintenance on Company Vehicles efficiently and promptly in conjunction with Transport Manager
  • To advise Transport Manager / Technical Advisor (ordering Clerk) on all difficulties/ problems if repairs / maintenance cannot be done
  • Report all major repairs required to the Transport Manager for approval
  • To take all Vehicles for a “test drive” after repairs / maintenance have been done
  • To do standby repairs / maintenance after hours and over weekends (designated mechanics only)
  • To ensure that a list of spares and brake pads / linings used on breakdowns handed to the Transport Admin Assistant WEEKLY (standby Mechanics)
