Description:
Our client in the Agricultural Industry, requires the services an detail orientated Assistant Quality Controller to inspect the quality of stored fruit in the packhouse.
Key performance areas:
- Management of additional pallet stock inspections requests from exporters.
- Management of the necessary information to obtain and maintain Indonesian Food Safety certifications.
- Assist the Quality Assurance Manager to update customer specifications.
- Execution of internal quality projects and tracking against set targets.
- Assist with the training and education of the relevant departments regarding food safety standards.
- Assist with the execution and compilation of competency assessments and documentation thereof.
- Compilation of reports for customers based on MRL results.
- Conducting and overseeing regular inspections to ensure that all special market requirements are adhered to in accordance with pack house protocols and DALRRD.
- Oversee special market sampling, accuracy of labelling and administration.
- Managing the quality and quantity control during Flow wrapping.
- Tracking of carbon footprint information for relevant departments and reporting trends to the Compliance Manager.
- Participate in internal auditing regarding food safety.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Train and equip team members to perform optimally.
- Assist with compliance related projects and data capturing for the pack house.
- Conduct additional internal quality audits on relevant departments to ensure compliance.
- Accurate capturing of quality rejections and client feedback.
- Assist with investigations, data compilation and reporting of claims, incidents, and customer queries.
- Assist with Fabrication inspections and assignment of maintenance jobs resulting.

- Knowledge and experience of pome fruit and / or berries is compulsory.
- Experience in a pack house will be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of industry food safety requirements (e.g. BRC, HACCP), post-harvest fruit handling and cold chain management is required.
- Must have the ability to interpret packing specifications.
- Excellent computer literacy (MS Office – Outlook, Word & Excel).
- Vitrax knowledge will be advantageous.
- Must be analytical, action-orientated and results-driven.
- Must have excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work in a faced-paced environment.
- Must have strong analytical, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate must have:
- Matric with a relevant Degree / Diploma in Horticulture /Food Science /Food Safety.
- At least 1-2 year experience in a supervisory or management role within a fruit / fresh produce environment.
