Description:
Design of marine structures and equipment
Good understanding/knowledge of vessel design and the ASME code
Develop concept designs
Perform structural analysis such as:
FEA (Finite Element Analysis) analyses
Calculations as per the requirements of 3rd parties such as ABS, DNV, Lloyds, BV etc.
Produce SolidWorks designs, conceptual drawings and manufacturing drawings as required
Review and approve structural drawings
Read and interrogate 3rd party codes and standards (IMCA, ABS, DNV, Lloyds, AMSE) and prepare design submission reports for 3rd party review such as ABS, DNV and Lloyd’s Register and resolve technical queries and/or comments throughout the design appraisal and production/manufacturing phases of the project
Understanding and knowledge in GRP (Fiberglass), Aluminum and HDPE is essential

- Boat Operations: 4 to 5 years
Software: SolidWorks , AutoCAD, MathCAD, Rhino, MS Office,
Additional skills/experience – Experience with Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
You will need a BEng. / BSc. / BTech / NDip in Mechanical Engineering (Marine industry preferable) or Industrial Design diploma. The following skills/years’ experience are required which must be demonstrated by submitting examples of work done:
High level of technical competency in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering design and analysis.
Hands-on experience in assembly and operation of marine equipment and or Boat operations.
System understanding / design of marine craft
Must possess a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and be goal oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work overtime when required
Position may require international travel
