Description:

Our client in the Automotive Industry is seeking a Process Engineer with experience in a Paint Shop environment. The position is based in Kariega. About:
Investigate, plan and coordinate the development, testing and introduction of process materials. Investigate, plan and coordinate processes relating to manufacturing of facilities, purchasing of equipment and products. Arrange, plan and coordinate the introduction of new product models. Initiate the introduction process changes on specific models. Maintain and assist production teams in the development of Work Instructions and Standards operation sheets. Identify improvement opportunities with regard to processes or materials.

Duties:
  • Participate in workshops as part of continuous improvement program focusing on process improvements, layouts, tooling, material flow improvements, cost savings, manufacturing concepts, manpower planning and cycle time improvements.
  • Liaise with internal customers and internal / external suppliers on projects to ensure that quality, cost and Schedule standards are adhere to.
  • Plan, implement and control new processes, procedures, production changes, and or facility/tooling changes.
  • Analyzing the impact of ECR’s and proposed product changes on the Process and management successful implementation in Production.
  • Liaise with suppliers in order to find new materials and or equipment / facilities to improve and assist production.
  • Co-ordination pre-series build requirements and identify relevant training needs in order to achieve a competency level that will produce units of an accepted quality level.
  • Coordinating and maintaining of all Technical data for the production lines.
  • Qualification requirements
  • National Diploma in Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering / Chemistry / Production or Operations Management.

Experience needed
  • 3 years production experience in a Paint Shop environment

Essentials
  • Detailed knowledge of manufacturing process and material in the Paint Shop Environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound communication skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Computer skills.
  • Sound technical knowledge of Production, Tooling, Facilities and Systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated.
  • Proven analytical and innovative approach to problem-solving.

Knowledge of:
  • Paint preparation processes.
  • Paint / surface defects inspection.
  • Paint defects rework processes.
