Warehouse & Shipping Team Leader

Our client in the chemical industry is looking for a Warehouse & Shipping Team Leader to join their team based in Port Elizabeth.
Position Summary:
The Warehouse and Shipping Team Leader will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the warehouse and shipping team to ensure efficient operations and timely shipments. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to motivate and guide a team in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

• Supervise and lead a team of Inventory control specialists.
• Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products within the warehouse.
• Coordinate with other departments to prioritize and schedule outbound shipments to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate record-keeping through regular cycle counts and audits.
• Train and mentor team members on proper warehouse and shipping procedures, including safety protocols and quality standards.
• Resolve any operational issues or discrepancies in shipping orders, receiving, or inventory management.
• Implement and enforce best practices for warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety.
• Collaborate with logistics and transportation partners to optimize shipping and delivery processes.
• Analyse and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse and shipping operations.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in Inventory control or supply chain management is a plus.
• Proven experience in a warehouse or production environment, with at least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of the SAP system related to inventory control and inventory movements.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and make quick decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for warehouse and shipping operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
• Strong analytical and reporting abilities to track, analyse, and optimize team performance.
