An opportunity has become available at our Head Office (Cape Town) within Cape Union Mart for a BUYER - LADIES LEISURE FOOTWEAR within the OUTDOOR division for CAPE UNION MART.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the setup of tech packs once completed by various parties (Buyer, QC and Design) and ensure it is sent to supplier
  • Buyer will give instruction on which lab dips are required
  • The Junior Buyer is responsible to requesting these lab dips from suppliers
  • Follow-up on lab dips should be done by the Junior Buyers
  • All lab dips are meant to be received and handed over to the buyer prior to range plan or product presentation
  • Oversees all admin with review set up ie boards and range tickets to be compiled prior to range presentation, based on the final range plan completed by the planner and buyer
  • Ensure all relevant samples are sourced and displayed in order of the range plan
  • Oversees photography process
  • Responsible for all marketing briefs and must ensure suitable/relevant product are suggested
  • Keeping abreast of trends
  • Liaise with suppliers and ensure samples are requested and submitted timeously Ensuring sampling requested is commercial and brand fit
  • Provide a good range of merchandise that meets our quality standards, consumer needs and product trends
  • Present the merchandise assortment to the managers prior to each season, and report on major competitors in conjunction with the merchandise planner once a season.
  • Ensure pricing of the products are competitive and within GP targets and the pricing policy.
  • Ensure production of seasonal merchandise is produced timeously for the season.
  • Report on major competitors once a season. Ensures that company benefits from cost saving strategies.
  • Selecting and sourcing reliable suppliers
  • Minimise risk through monitoring high risk suppliers (late deliveries, reliability, quality) - Maintaining and improving supplier relationships and ensuring that suppliers understand and adhere to our terms.
  • Oversee order follow ups to ensure on-time delivery
  • Arranging for fabrics to be sent to CMT suppliers with sufficient lead times.
  • Working with the Garment Technologist to ensure all product adhere to the acceptable Cape Union Mart standards.
  • Ensure sizing is standardized
  • Completing quality control in the repairs department and advising suppliers where necessary.
  • Undertaking store visits and interacting with managers, staff and customers to gauge stores/customers’ needs/wants
  • Gaining input on deliveries of new merchandise to stores.
  • Keeping up to date on stock levels and customer profiles

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric Diploma or degree in retail or relevant industry
  • Retail work experience
  • Experience on the buying department or similar International exposure
  • Working with OEM product
  • Working knowledge of the
  • Microsoft office package (PPT,
  • EXCEL, Word and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of the product life cycle
  • Relevant Industry/Product knowledge
  • Experience with supplier relations General understanding/exposure of planning
