Calling all Mechanical Draughtsman!
The primary purpose of this role is to produce technical drawings according to specified requirements, ensuring effective document distribution and maintenance of an orderly archiving system. The Mechanical Draughtsman/Design Draughtsman will collaborate closely with project technicians and engineers to deliver accurate and timely drawings, contributing to the success of the business unit and aligning with company objectives.
The ideal candidate will hold the relevant qualifications, possess a minimum of 5 years experience have proficiency in in CAD/AutoCAD.
Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Draughtsman Diploma/Certificate.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in pump manufacturing or maintenance.
Understanding of machining and geometric tolerancing.
Exposure to mechanical, structural, plant, and pump station environments.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective filing and archiving systems.
General understanding of engineering specifications and codes.
Familiarity with draughting principles.
Strong computer literacy.
Proficiency in CAD/AutoCAD/Inventor 3D or similar software packages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct basic design calculations and selections for pump sets, base plates, and auxiliaries.
Create detailed component designs, considering material properties, clearances, machining, tolerances, weld maps, and technical/engineering procedures as needed.
Generate customer-related drawings, including general arrangements, structural baseplates, piping, and sectional drawings.
Design pump stations, piping systems, and layouts.
Convert 2D drawings into 3D models and assemblies, and vice versa.
Adapt drawings to accommodate changes in the engineering environment.
Update existing drawings when revisions are necessary.
Maintain drawing office systems and procedures.
Collaborate with other departments such as Sales, Projects, and Workshops.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assist colleagues with daily tasks when required.
Undertake any other reasonable tasks delegated from time to time.
