Managed Talent Solutions a division within Datacentrix is looking for a Moodle e-Learning Systems Administrator for one of their client in Centurion. This is a fixed 6 months contract. The Moodle Systems Administrator will responsible for the maintenance, management and support of the company’s Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning (Moodle) eLearning Platform. The incumbent will work in conjunction with other System Administrators, Security Experts, Network Administrators, Database Administrators and Support Technicians.Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric and National Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or related field
- Maintaining and supporting Moodle eLearning Platform
- Troubleshooting and fixing problems on the Moodle eLearning Platform
- Configuring, upgrading, customizing, integrating and commissioning the Moodle eLearning Platform
- Deep skills and experience in administering, maintaining, updating and documenting the Moodle eLearning Platform and plug-ins
- Systems implementation standards, best practices and protocols including load balancing (high availability), databases and security
- Working knowledge of the importation and organization of content on the Moodle eLearning Platform Certifications
- Manage and coordinate mini projects
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016 or later
- Knowledge of SQL Server 2016 or later
- Knowledge and experience in LAN / WAN & wireless, understanding application weakness, and designing solutions to protect against these Security protocols, practices and standards
- Knowledge and experience in SAN Storage, VMWare, Server Hardware, Backup
- Knowledge and experience in Software, and Anti-virus software
- Stabilizing the current Moodle platform that is experiencing errors especially under load
- Create new instances of Moodle Platform together with their corresponding databases at the Hosting, Production Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and Disaster Recovery DMZ site. The new instances will be at the latest available stable version
- Migrate the data from the old instance to the new instances and setup replication mechanism or high availability mechanisms between the different instances
- Design and Implement High Availability mechanisms behind load balancers in all the environments (Hosting, Production DMZ and DR Site DMZ)
- Meeting the required levels of service performance such as uptime, availability and response time, and the timely and effective handling of enquiries and requests for guidance or action on problems
- Monitoring and reviewing the performance and quality of service provided by the platform and its constituent hardware, and software
- Investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolution of problems, including negotiation with users, specialists, other staff and suppliers as appropriate
- Taking account of the needs for quality, security, availability and safety, utilizing, as necessary, specialized techniques, tools, methods and standards
