Structural Draughtsman

Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Draughtsman to join our client based in Cape Town. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in creating accurate and comprehensive technical drawings for structural projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate closely with structural engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and design intent.
2. Create detailed structural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details, using industry-standard software (such as AutoCAD or Revit).
3. Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards in all drawings.
4. Review and analyze technical documents, specifications, and sketches to identify potential issues or discrepancies.
5. Modify and revise drawings as necessary to accommodate changes or updates to project requirements.
6. Coordinate with other drafters and designers to maintain consistency and accuracy across drawings.
7. Prepare and maintain documentation related to drawings, including revisions, versions, and archives.
8. Assist in the preparation of material lists, cost estimates, and project schedules as needed.
9. Stay updated on advancements in structural design technologies and tools.

Qualifications:

1. Degree or Diploma: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Structural Draughtsman.
3. Software Proficiency:
   • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant design software.
   • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) principles is advantageous.
4. Technical Skills:
   • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
   • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
   • Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
5. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Team Player: Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
