Description:
We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to join our rapidly growing, fast paced outsourced accounting practice. The role requires someone who is confident with both staff and clients, hands-on, enjoys getting into the cogs of the financial operations and will provide value through thorough and insightful analysis and assisting with the financial operations of our clients.
Role Purpose:
Your role would be to manage two small teams each consisting of 2 to 3 staff members ranging from junior to mid-level client facing managers. This will include:
Training
Supervising
Scheduling work
Planning
Quality control
Technical analysis and sign off
Client communication. Although not the day-to-day contact for clients you are always included on communications and always available to answer any questions that the client managers can’t answer or need assistance with.
You will also be processing some of the more complicated workings on certain clients and will be responsible for gaining an understanding of any new systems and required processes before handing it over to the team. You will always be on the lookout for project work and where the opportunity arises, you will need to clearly communicate the need for the work to the client and negotiate fees for the project all while making sure the client relationship is not put at risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the bookkeeping teams to ensure everyone is on track to meet all deadlines and to help in sorting out any bottlenecks holding the teams up.
Financial results review and analysis, including preparation of month end and annual reporting Identify underlying trends and understand variances
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
Help drive forward the continued automation of finance processes, financial reporting, and reconciliation for all clients
Required Competencies and Skills:
Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisoror Finance Manager
Good knowledge of different accounting systems – knowledge of Xero/Sage/Quickbooks would be an advantage
Advanced Excel skills
High attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
Coaching and strong management skills – leads by example
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
Team player
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree/Honors Degree in Management Accounting or Accounting
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
Advanced computer skills on MS Office and accounting software
Previous experience of managing, developing and motivating a team
Previous experience with UK clients will be an advantage
