As a software Technical Writer at a well established, large Courier Company, you'll be pivotal in developing comprehensive documentation that adheres to rigorous organizational standards, ensuring clarity and accessibility for users. Leveraging your adeptness in quickly grasping complex subject matter, you'll translate intricate technical details into user-friendly content, fostering user success with our products and services. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll gather insights, refine content, and contribute to the continuous improvement of their documentation processes. With a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to continuous learning, you'll play a vital role in enhancing the user experience and supporting the company's mission of delivering exceptional solutions to their clients
Minimum Requirements:
National Senior Certificate, Grade 12, or similar qualification
Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer
Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or relevant technical field
Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
Previous experience in software development
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive documentation in adherence to organizational standards
Gain a deep understanding of products and services, simplifying complex information into polished, engaging content
Write user-friendly content tailored to meet the needs of the target audience, facilitating user success
Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, incorporating research, usability tests, and design specifications
Evaluate existing content and devise innovative methods for enhancement
Research, outline, write, and edit content in collaboration with various departments to align with project requirements
Gather information from subject-matter experts to create procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
Collaborate with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, ensuring optimal data storage solutions
Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates compliant with organizational and legal standards, facilitating easy data migration
Develop content in alternative media forms to maximize usability while maintaining a consistent voice across all documentation
Stay updated on changes and procedures within the company to address customer needs effectively
Maintain awareness of the company's structures, divisions, and teams to understand business dynamics and query types
Ensure continuous learning and development to optimize system and process knowledge
Approach opportunities with a proactive ""can-do"" attitude
Work effectively in a lively environment, demonstrating strong teamwork skills
Foster collaborative relationships within the team to achieve shared objectives
Contribute insights in departmental meetings to enhance decision-making processes and departmental functioning
Identify and address issues within the allocated area, proposing changes as needed
Display adaptability and resilience to work under pressure and extended hours when required
