Cost Accountant

My client, a market leader in the retail and manufacturing industry is seeking a Cost Accountant to be a apart of their amazing team. The successful candidate will assist the CFO would be required to perform full costing functions for the business.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the company's operations.
• Costing: Utilise costing methods to accurately determine the cost of production of various products.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts by providing insights into cost trends and variances, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and control processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Variance Analysis: Analyse and interpret variances between actual and budgeted costs, investigating reasons for discrepancies and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
• Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency, reduce production costs and maximize profitability.
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives, driving continuous improvement efforts across the company.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to support decision-making by management.
• Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis related to costs, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and regulatory standards

Skills and Qualifications :

• Bcom Accounting degree
• CIMA would be advantageous
• SAP or similar ERP experience
• Exposure in a Manufacturing industry would be advantageous
