We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
Lead, conduct and facilitate molecular population genetic research to inform biodiversity management through genomes to biomes
Develop and apply cutting edge molecular and other genetic tools for application in wildlife populations to minimise genetic erosion and safeguard genetic diversity.
Inform wildlife management that require genetic data, including designation of population management units, managing hybridization and its consequences, understanding and regulation
Investigate and translate evolutionary processes to explain the causes of biodiversity using phylogenetic, population genetics, developmental biology and comparative genomics.
Contribute to relevant national and international platforms for biodiversity management/ conservation
This position requires a PhD in Conservation genetics/ Population genetics or equivalent relevant qualification at NQF 10, with strong leadership in population genetics and genomics, and a solid track record of proven impact through the development and application of molecular technologies proven ability to develop research ideas, publish research findings and raise funds for own research.
This position requires 4 years relevant working experience.

Proven ability to develop research ideas, publish research findings and raise funds for own research. a proven record and ability to identify and foster key stakeholder relationships in the field(s) of population genetics and genomics and foundational biodiversity science; comprehensive knowledge to ensure that the necessary reagents are stocked, equipment maintenance and repairs as needed, and relevant computational pipelines, and appropriate statistical analysis are developed for genomics and bioinformatics analysis is essential; extensive knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures, processes, practices, systems, and frameworks related to population genetics and genomics is essential; advanced planning, organizing, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous.
The possession of a valid driver's licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
