Requirements:Grade 12 and a Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma3 years relevant experience in a related role within the food manufacturing environmentFitter Trade test.Sound experience in maintaining food processing equipment or equivalent.Must be able to work in a fast paced and high performing environment. Responsibilities: Fits and assembles structural frameworks such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using hand tools and welding equipment and following blueprint specifications: Examines blueprints and materials list to obtain parts specifications.Fits and assembles metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.Take accurate measurements of small and large metal components to make sure they will fit together properlyMake adjustments to manufacturing machinery to ensure they can cope with the specifications of the components that need to be built.Make sure machinery used in component production is consistently maintained and oversee any repair work when required.Apply cosmetic coatings or protective fluids or metals to ensure components have a long lifespan.Cut, bend and affix equipment such as hydraulic pipe lines and weld metal components together as requiredPositions parts in jig and files, chisels, and grinds parts, as indicated, to fit them togetherPeriodically compares dimensions of assembly to blueprint specifications, using square, rule etc.Respond to plant breakdowns by ensuring that PPM (planned preventative maintenance) is carried out, reducing downtime.Basic fabrication skills including small welding tasks.Inspection, removal and/or repairs of faulty parts and replacement of the same.
