Description:

The Quantity Surveyor reports to the Group CFO and plays a crucial role in maximizing project margins and adding value to the construction process through proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, and reporting. The Quantity Surveyor will drive best value from suppliers and subcontractors, conduct monthly financial reviews on projects, forecast final outturn values for cost, sales, and margin, and manage timely submission and negotiation of final accounts. Responsibilities and Duties:
The Quantity Surveyor will:
  • Prepare cost analysis based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labor involved.
  • Prepare cost plans to facilitate practical designs for construction projects, liaising with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and negotiate contracts where appropriate.
  • Control all project stages within predetermined budgets and expenditures.
  • Monitor project progress, measure and value variations in the work, and ensure commercial controls are in place.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project staff, review and draft correspondence.
  • Certify subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Collaborate with project staff and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Produce accurate formal reports within specified business timelines.
  • Supply relevant information to senior management for review as required.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

  • Commercial astuteness, numeracy, and risk awareness with the ability to forecast costs and sales accurately.
  • Multi-tasking ability, self-motivation, and a flexible, adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong organization skills, resource planning, and program scheduling abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Construction Costing Software (e.g., "Candy").
  • Demonstrable experience in construction contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to motivate and communicate across all levels.
  • Self-starting attitude with a focus on delivery and solutions.
  • Dependability, maturity, and the ability to work in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision.
