Group IFRS Technical Manager

Purpose of the PositionThe Group IFRS Technical manager is responsible for reporting of the Group results externally, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and listing requirements.They are also responsible for assisting the group finance team with technical accounting matters.The position provides support to investor relations and company secretarial on the results reporting.In addition, the Group IFRS Technical Manager will aid the Group reporting team on monthly reporting requirements or deliverables and during budget and forecast processes may be required to assist the group FPA team in the preparation of their deliverables.QualificationsMust be a CA (SA)Experience/SkillsMust have experience within the Big 4 working environmentMinimum of 2-5 years’ post article relevant experience in a IFRS technical roleExcels in working under strict deadlines and gets the job doneAttention to detail and can work accurately and efficientlyA passion for solving complex problemsStrong analytical skillsStrong process, governance and internal control knowledge and experienceHighly trustworthy as the position will require a high level of confidentialityIntermediate/advanced excel skillsKey Performance Objectives/TasksStatutory reportingProviding technical accounting guidance to Group subsidiaries and associate (where required), in particular assisting with complex MA and non-systematic transactions.This includes the preparation of accounting position papers that are cleared by the business as well as the auditors, as well as assist with determining the appropriate corporate or subsidiary accounting;Evaluate the impact of new IFRS standards or JSE listing requirements and prepare templates and guidance for the segments in order to gather the required info for AFS and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) disclosure purposes;Creating and maintaining internal accounting policies, the group’s accounting manual and the internal accounting control environment, based on best practice;Preparation of the statutory reporting requirements for the half-year and year-end to shareholders as well as internal reporting, including the annual financial statements, condensed/summary financial statements, and investor relations information, amongst others;Preparation of and presenting of internal IFRS training to the wider group;Setting up the reporting timetable and ensuring it is adhered to not only internally but with the auditors as well. Communicating exceptions and taking a proactive approach to resolving issues;Communicate regularly with the subsidiaries as to the exact requirements for reporting,including ad hoc requests;
