An established and well-maintained retirement village in Somerset West has a vacancy for a handyman to join their team.Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all the buildings - Inside and out of all buildings including occupants units
- Complete preventative maintenance
- Complete tasks set out by the Supervisor / Estate Manager
- Continuously check and inspect buildings to identify maintenance needs and report back to the Estate Manager
- Respond promptly and efficiently to duties allocated to you by the Supervisor or Estate Manager
- All repair work to be completed in a timely fashion to minimize down time
- All repair work to be completed to estate standards
- Installation and repairs of tile work
- Sand, prepare and varnish paint of wood surfaces
- Sand, prepare and paint of walls and ceilings
- Work area to be kept neat and clean
- Repair of minor plumbing, electrical and irrigation systems
- Brick, block and plastering repairs
- Minor concrete repairs
- Roof maintenance
- Special care must always be taken to not damage any property
- Inspect equipment - follow all safety rules and procedures and operate equipment in accordance with
established safety policies and department procedures - Work flexible hours when job demands
- Comply with the estate regulations and policies
- Asist with any other reasonable tasks which may be required
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or Equivalent /trade certification (desirable)
- Min 5 years General maintenance (essential)
- Experience with Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Painting, Tiling (desirable) and irrigation
- Working with power tools (essential)
- Fit and able to work from heights (essential)
- Fully bilingual
- Personality to work with older persons
- Honest and sincere personality
