Description:
A company based in Pretoria East has a vacancy available for an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion and interest in military & land systems (special purpose protected vehicles) to join their team. The ideal candidates need to have a relevant Degree and at least 3+ years of relevant work experience, and a passport as international travel will be required. (Working internationally for 28 days at a time, 4x times per year)
You will play a key role in the design, development, refurbishment, and maintenance of various sectors of the security market as well as special purpose-protected vehicles. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept to completion while utilizing your expertise in various engineering disciplines and providing customized solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee projects throughout their lifecycle, including service, repair, manufacture, and design.
· Strength calculations.
· 3D CAD modeling and drawing.
· Manufacturing data pack generation (BOMs, QCPs, Work Instructions, Manuals).
· Participate in physical inspections and maintenance processes to gain a hands-on understanding.
· Provide expert technical advice and mentor Junior Engineers.
· Monitor compliance with relevant codes, practices, and specifications.
· Design and develop special purpose protected vehicles.
· Refurbish and upgrade existing vehicle systems.
· Provide maintenance and logistic support for vehicle systems.
· Manage equipment and system obsolescence. Manage project execution, procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, reporting, and quality control (beneficial)
Requirements:
- B.Eng or B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle design and systems integration (Industry Beneficial).
- Proficiency in a CAD package and computer hardware/software, PTC Creo % Creo Simulate.
- Experience in product design with a passion for product development.
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis and strength of materials.
- Curiosity about the inner workings of machines and tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
- Ability to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to be technically hands-on involved (work with hands).
- Willingness to work overseas for 28 days continuously, up to 4 times a year.
Qualifications & Experience:
