Minimum Requirements
- B-Tech or B degree in Environmental Science or Environmental management.
- Professional registration EAPASA or SACNASP
- Environmental law training.
- ISO 1400 1 development, implementation, and auditing certificate.
- Computer literacy skills e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Drivers's licence and own transport.
- 8-10 years of experience working on a construction project, managing environmental compliance inclusive of exposure to wetlands.
- Interpretation and Implementation of SA environmental legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects associated with construction projects.
- Environmental incident reporting investigation.
- Nature conservation waste management and water use license requirements.
- Knowledge of environmental authorization.
Required Outputs and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental-related processes, plans, procedures, and standards.
- Translate client's specifications into project-specific procedures.
- Conduct and document environmental aspects and impacts assessments.
- Participate in the establishment and implements, conditions of the environmental authorization and recommendations of the environmental management programme (EMPr).
- Compile environmental monitoring reports and maintain relevant registers.
- Coordinate contractor environmental-related activities.
- Conduct site inspections (waste management, storm water systems, Hazardous materials management, etc.) to ensure that environmental impacts are kept to a minimum.
- Participate in the review of method statements.
- Facilitate environmental awareness and induction to convey contents of the EMPR to the project team and contractors.
- Collate data required for the monthly environmental compliance report as prescribed in the environmental authorization.
- Conduct environmental audits on contractors.
- Attend Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Committee meetings.
- Coordinate registration and removal of waste.
- Liaise with Environmental inspectors and other related governmental bodies and regulating agencies
- Record and investigate environmental incidents and complaints.
- Maintain public complaints register.
- Assume other duties that may be assigned.

- Knowledge of applicable environment codes, standard and legislation.
- Must be able to develop and/or respond to environmental; requirement fit for purpose solutions to clients and other stakeholders to create a long-term relationship.
